Imagination and social media: Pinterest on the rise

Recently, Pinterest hit 11.7 million unique monthly U.S. visitors, according to Comscore, crossing the 10 million mark faster than any other standalone site in history. What is Pinterest?

This new trend is emerging out of photography and imagination driven social media such as Instagr.am, the micro-blogging Website Tumblr and even Fancy

Pinterest comes from the association of two words: ‘pin’ and ‘interest’. It is actually a virtual pinboard which allows you to organize and share all the beautiful things you find on the Web. People use pinboards to plan their weddings, decorate their homes, and organize their favorite recipes for example. You can also browse pinboards created by other people to discover new things and get inspiration from people who share your interests.

This new trend is emerging out of photography and imagination driven social media such as Instagr.am, the micro-blogging Website Tumblr and even Fancy, a wishlist to discover, share and curate a collection of things you love, to get updates on your favorite brands and stores.

PUMA decided recently to undertake the Pinterest adventure as well. Its “pinboard” is made up of nine categories : Collaborations, Golf, Running & Fitness, Love Thy Planet, Shoes (Women), Shoes (Men), Black & White, For Fun, Color Blocking and over one hundred pins already. The effect created by PUMA comes out as a colorful and vibrant moodboard, underlining the brand’s story-telling in the sport & lifestyle business.
