Breakdown of share capital at December 31, 2010
At December 31, 2010, individual shareholders held 8.1% of the Group’s share capital (compared to 9.0% at the end of 2009).
Institutional investors owned 51% of the share capital. Of this, 10.9% was held by French companies and 39.9% by non-French institutional investors. Among the international institutional investors, UK shareholders held 15.8% of the share capital and US shareholders represented 14.3% of the share capital. Continental European investors (excluding France) represented 7.4% of the share capital, and included Germany (1.9%), Norway (1.6%) and Switzerland (1.1%).
The main changes in shareholdings compared with 2009 are a 2.6 points drop in the percentage held by French institutional investors and a 3.4 points increase in international institutional investors. Most of this increase was attributable to UK shareholders (up 3.7 points) and US shareholders (up 2.6 points).
